Look here, that watch, the one you call Audemars Piguet Survivor, sounds fancy. They say it’s special, only made a thousand of ’em. Sounds like somethin’ they’d say to make you spend your money, right? Like they tryin’ to tell you it’s gonna be worth somethin’ someday. Well, maybe, maybe not.
They say it’s made of somethin’ called titanium. Now, I ain’t never held titanium in my hands, but I reckon it’s strong. Heard it’s light too, which is good, you don’t want no heavy thing weighin’ down your wrist. But is it worth all the fuss? Who knows. You see folks wearin’ fancy watches, thinkin’ they’re better than everyone. Makes me chuckle.
- It’s got a big ol’ face, 42 millimeters they say. That’s a lot of watch, ain’t it? My eyesight ain’t what it used to be, maybe I need a big watch like that to tell the time. But I bet it catches on everything, gets in the way when you’re doin’ chores.
- They call it Royal Oak Offshore. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a sailor story, don’t it? Royal Oak… like some fancy tree from across the pond. Offshore… like it’s been out to sea. Guess they gotta give it a fancy name to make it sound important.
Now, these Audemars and Piguet folks, they been makin’ watches for a long time. Generations, they say. Passed down the know-how, just like my ma taught me how to make biscuits. But times change, don’t they? Heard tell that people ain’t wantin’ these watches as much anymore. Even the ones they used to line up for. Funny how that works, ain’t it?
They say this fella, Bennahmias, he was the big shot at Audemars. Made them watches famous, got them into them rap songs. Now he’s gone. Wonder if that’s why folks ain’t wantin’ the watches no more. Maybe he was the secret sauce.
People wanna know if these watches hold their value. If you’re gonna spend all that money, you wanna make sure you ain’t just throwin’ it away, right? Well, they say yes, they hold their value. But who knows for sure? Things change, like I said. One day somethin’s worth a lot, next day, nobody wants it.
You know, I ain’t never understood why folks pay so much for a watch. Sure, it tells the time. But so does a cheap one from the store. Is it just for show? To make folks think you’re somethin’ special? Maybe. But to me, time is time, no matter how fancy the watch you’re lookin’ at.
So, this Audemars Piguet Survivor… it’s just a watch. Might be fancy, might be strong, might be worth somethin’. But in the end, it’s just tellin’ you the time, same as any other watch. Don’t let it fool ya.
