Ya know, there’s this watch, right? Audemars Piguet Edward. Sounds fancy, eh? Don’t really know what all them words mean, but it’s a watch, and a good one they say.
This Audemars fella and this Piguet fella, they started makin’ these watches way back in 1875. That’s a long time ago, even before I was born, and I’m tellin’ ya, that’s a really long time. They was in some place called Switzerland, don’t know where that is, but it’s far, real far. They make ’em real good over there, these watches.
- Real fancy: Some folks say they’re the fanciest watches around. I seen pictures, shiny and all, lotsa little parts tickin’ away. Makes ya wonder how they do it.
- Lotsa money: They cost a pretty penny, these watches. More money than I’ve ever seen in my life, probably. But folks who got money, they buy ’em.
- Rectangle shape: They ain’t round like most watches. They kinda square, like a box, but not really. They call it rectangle. Sounds like somethin’ you use to fix things, but it’s just the shape.
Heard tell they got these watches on somethin’ called the internet. Chrono24, they call it. Never seen it myself, but folks say you can buy and sell stuff there. Like a big market, but ya don’t need to leave your house. Imagine that! You can find these Audemars Piguet Edward watches there, they say. Lotsa folks lookin’ at ’em, dreamin’ of havin’ one.
Now, some folks say there’s another watch, a Rolex, they call it. They argue about which one’s better, the Audemars Piguet or the Rolex. Like arguin’ over whose chickens lay better eggs. Seems silly to me. But they say the Audemars Piguet is made real careful, with lotsa work put into it. Like hand-sewin’ a quilt, real special.
They keep raisin’ the price of these watches, they do. Somethin’ about the money stuff, the economy, they call it. Things get expensive, ya know? Just like eggs and milk. So they gotta charge more for these watches, I guess.
Heard tell there’s a lady runnin’ the show now, this Audemars Piguet company. A lady boss! Good for her, I say. Times are changin’, ain’t they?
Anyway, this Audemars Piguet Edward watch, it’s a fancy thing, real expensive. Not for folks like me, that’s for sure. But it’s nice to know about these things, ain’t it? Makes the world seem bigger, more interesting. Like there’s more out there than just chickens and eggs.
