Today, I felt like doing something with my hands, so I decided to remake a bag. Not just any bag, mind you. A fancy one. A Yves Saint Laurent, or YSL for short. It’s called the LE CARRé SATCHEL. Sounds fancy, right? Heard it’s a classic.
First, I went to the store, the actual YSL store. I took a good look at the bag. It’s not too big, not too small, just the right size to hold your stuff. Wallet, keys, maybe a little snack. And it’s got this flap thing in the front, with a shiny, gold-colored lock. It’s made of brass, real fancy.
Here’s what I did:
- I went to a shop that sells leather. They had all sorts of colors. Black like the bag, of course. I bought a good piece, not too thick, not too thin.
- Then, I started cutting. I made a pattern first, you know, on paper. Like those patterns folks use to make clothes. I carefully cut the leather according to my pattern. Front, back, sides, the flap – all the pieces.
- Sewing was next. Now, this part was tricky. I used a thick needle and strong thread. I sewed the pieces together, slowly and carefully, by hand. Took a while, but I did it.
- The lock was the hardest part. I found something similar. Shiny and gold-colored, just like the real one. I attached it to the flap. It clicks when you close it.
And there you have it. My very own YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL bag. It looks pretty good, I think. Not exactly like the one in the store, but close enough. And the best part? I made it myself.
It feels good to make something with your own two hands. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And it’s a good bag, a fancy bag. I can see why people like these YSL bags. They’re well-made, I guess, even my homemade version.
It was a fun project.
Maybe I’ll try making something else next time. Who knows? But for now, I’m happy with my new bag. It’s a classic, just like they say.
