Okay, so, today I wanted to mess around with remaking something fancy, and I picked the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. I’m not a designer or anything, I just like trying to recreate stuff I see online.
First off, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of this bag on different websites. I was looking at all the details, like how the seams looked, the way the YSL logo was positioned, and the overall shape of the bag. It’s a pretty sleek and simple design, but getting the details right is important, you know?
Then, I started sketching out the bag on paper. I’m no artist, but I tried my best to draw out the different panels and how they would fit together. I made a bunch of notes about the dimensions, trying to guess the size based on the pictures. It wasn’t perfect, but it gave me a rough idea of what I was working with.
After that, I had to figure out what materials I could use. I didn’t have any fancy leather or anything, so I rummaged through my old stuff and found some thick black fabric that I thought would work okay. I also found some gold-colored buttons that kind of looked like the YSL logo, so I thought I could use those too. It’s all about being resourceful, right?
Cutting the fabric was a bit of a challenge. I used my paper sketches as templates, but it was still tricky to get the shapes just right. I probably messed up a few times, but I had enough fabric to make some mistakes and still have enough for the bag. Sewing was even harder. I’m not very good with a needle and thread, but I tried my best to follow the lines I drew on the fabric. It was slow going, and my stitches definitely weren’t as neat as the real bag, but I was making progress.
The hardest part was probably trying to attach my makeshift YSL logo. I ended up gluing the gold buttons onto the front flap, and it looked… okay. From a distance, it kind of resembled the real thing, but up close, you could definitely tell it was just some buttons glued on. But hey, I was proud of myself for trying.
Finally, after hours of work, I had something that vaguely resembled the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t pretty, and it definitely wouldn’t fool anyone who knew what the real bag looked like. The seams were crooked, the logo was off, and the whole thing was a bit lopsided. But you know what? I made it, and that’s what counts. I had fun experimenting, and I learned a lot about how these kinds of bags are put together. It also made me appreciate the craftsmanship of the real thing even more. Maybe one day I’ll get good enough to make a decent replica, but for now, I’m happy with my little imperfect creation.
This whole project was just a fun experiment. It wasn’t about making a perfect replica, but rather about the process of trying, learning, and seeing what I could come up with. And who knows, maybe this will inspire some of you to try remaking something you like, too!
